This was an interesting job for me as it was the first time I had art directed an animation. I was asked by Confederation Studios to build papercraft models of everything that was to be animated. Occasionally I can be expected to get involved in the creative process and not just follow a blueprint, but this was the first time I sat down and actually had to consider the whole look and design of the animation. The only condition was that the background had to be the corporate purple colour.
Just Giving had asked Confederation Studios to produce two short animated films for their website. These were to explain how the site works and how it can benefit charities and anyone planning a sponsored event. Working with the creative team at Confederation Studios and also animator Daniel Murtha, who had provided a storyboard, I designed and constructed all of the objects for the animation.
These models were then photographed and a handed over to Daniel to animate. The results were fantastic and really need to be seen full screen to see the paper texture of the models. Just Giving were so pleased with the films that soon after they commissioned another two.
