Derrick The Deathfin
This was a project that I worked on with the artist Ronzo. He and games designers Different Tuna were developing a video game called Derrick the Deathfin. The game was to have a unique look, with everything from the characters to the backgrounds looking as if it was made from paper.
Ronzo designed a set of characters based on various undersea creatures and it was my job to convert his designs into paper craft models. These could then be used as reference for the game designers to base the in-game characters on. They would copy and replicate the texture of the paper, all the cuts and folds that made the models look hand crafted.
The aim was to make each character as simple as possible. Having a “low geometry” model would mean that complex paper textures could be applied to each creature.
